Arts

One of the core elements of any inquiry process is creation. Students need the freedom and opportunity to express themselves in a creative way, allowing for unique ideas and varied outputs. Arts integration in visual and performing arts supports creativity, engagement, and learning capacity. It also teaches students character skills, such as delayed gratification, long term planning, and resilience in struggles. In the STEAM industry the arts take many forms, from design to the creative process.

STEAM at Heritage comes both from the design process, as it is applied in engineering, technology, and science, and the fine arts as a stand alone practice. Teachers will strive to incorporate both aspects throughout the school year, teaching arts skills in all lessons and providing time for creative projects during the school day. In addition to classroom arts instruction, Heritage will offer after school, fee based classes and assemblies to allow for further exploration in the arts.
